Bosco's Fourth of July

Here's Bosco's official Fourth of July portrait.
It's always exciting getting a picture of him in a bandana, since whenever he sees one of them come out, he automatically assumes that it means we're getting ready to go somewhere fun - the park, the vet's, a walk, visiting friends... It's a disappointment when all he sees is the camera. As is evident here, though, he's always ready to pose.
Saturday Bosco had a real treat. His extended Southern California human family all came to visit him. He wasn't too enthused about going in the pool, but once he was in, he paddled energetically to the steps in the shallow end and managed to get out on his own.

Bosco's Lazy Spring Days

We just realized that it's been six months since our last update. Here's Bosco recently toasting in the late springtime sun. Doesn't seem possible that he's already over two and a half years old. Now weighing just over 97 pounds, he's still the little baby inside that he was when he was eight and a half pounds and could be held in the palm of my hand.

The high point of his week is visiting the leash-free park a couple of times a week for chasing his ball and socializing with all his buddies.

Happy Bosco Birthday II

Today, Bosco is two years old.

It seems only yesterday that the little six week-old eight and a half pound fur ball rode home in his new mama's lap with classical music playing soothingly on the car radio.

The little cuddly fur ball has grown into a 91 pound retrieving machine who still loves music of any kind - classical, jazz, country, metal.... Whatever else is happening, when music comes on, he stops, his ears go up, and he listens, totally involved, until the music ends.

As long as someone will throw his ball, Bosco will bring it back, and bring it back, and bring it back ... Until your arm is too tired to throw anymore.

His life revolves around Breakfast, his noon Milky Bone and Bosco Ball game, snoozing in the patio glider, Dinner, the evening relaxing watching Law and Order and singing along with the theme music (Owoooo, oooo, owwwww), his evening nap - a 91 pound lap dog; Friday rides to the leash-free park, and Saturday trips to the park.

Happy Second Birthday, Bosco.

Bosco at 20 months

It's been quite awhile since the last pix, so here is what Bosco looks like at 20 months. At 90 pounds, he's still a work in progress, but is a great "helper" with yard work - grabbing gloves and tools and running around the yard. He loves going to the leash-free park, playing ball, and crawling up in my lap during "Law and Order".

Below he is at full extension (note the ball in the upper right) at one of his favorite parks.

A Very Merry Bosco

Bosco celebrates his second Christmas with us.

Here he awaits the arrival of the rest of his human family and the expected gift-opening excitement.

Below, he visits over the fence with his little lady friend next door, Bella.

Lap Dog

Bosco's latest trick:

In the evening, while watching Law and Order, it starts with his nose over the chair arm, then the head, then the front paws, then the chest ...

Before you know it, you have a lap full of 82 pounds of chocolate.

Then he goes to sleep.

Bosco is One Year Old!

On Halloween, Bosco was one year old!

Here's the little goblin's Official Birthday Portrait taken on that day.

If he looks a little disgusted, it's because putting on a bandana usually means we're going for a ride in the car to somewhere fun, like the leash-free park. When he learned that it was just for a picture taking session, he put on this expression.

Even though he's a year old, and 82 pounds, down inside, he's still a tiny, fuzzy puppy. Sooner or later in the course of the evening, he manages to squirm his way up into my lap to be rocked to sleep.

Today (Thanksgiving), Bosco will be going to his favorite park in the afternoon to run and play and hopefully get tired enough to let his humans feast in peace.

(Apologies for the delay in posting - extracurricular activities have eroded my free time. I'll try to do better in the future.)

"The Graduate" - Starring BOSCO

Today, Bosco graduated with honors from PetSmart Intermediate School He has now finished two levels of training with a perfect attendance record of 8 weeks at Puppy School, and 8 weeks of Intermediate Education.

Now he knows and is very good at "Sit", "Down", "Stay", "Wait", "Come", "Heel", and "Leave It". He still has a little trouble with "Stand" - probably because it sounds too nearly like some other commands, like "Sit" and "Stay".

Bosco is now going to take a break from his formal education for awhile to enjoy being a puppy and to mature a little before moving on to Advanced Training.

10 Month-Old Bosco

On Thursday, 31 August, Bosco was 10 months old.

Blogger is so slow that I have been trying all week just to get these two pictures uploaded. Maybe when Blogger gets back to normal responsiveness I'll be able to post more.
